About me
I am a highly skilled and capable freelance writer. Creating beautifully written copy is both my passion and my priority. I am a firm believer in fulfilling a brief, hitting deadlines, paying attention to detail, being nice to people and drinking lots of tea.
I originally trained in news journalism and spent several years covering dog shows and jumble sales on a regional tabloid before doing stints in TV research, sub-editing and even on a cartoon newspaper (brilliant but sadly short lived). I finally found my niche when I took a job at Elle Decoration magazine, which led to a freelance career writing features for many of the UK's leading interiors titles as well as an impressive range of books. After some very happy years as associate editor of Homes & Gardens magazine, I moved out of London and now live with my family in Cornwall.
These days I write and style house features (working closely with photographers); general interior design features; profiles; Q&As; step-by-steps and supplements. I often research images, curating the overall look to complement the words appropriately and fulfil the brief. I recently self-published a book, Make: Cornwall, and have devised, written and produced an online magazine for a luxury website.
I also have experience in copywriting for companies large and small – including Dulux, Classic Cottages, Ellesse, Central Saint Martins and Zurich. I am delighted to be commissioned to help your business with words for websites, press releases, labels, brochures, leaflets, in-house magazines, and other content.
